The Driggs in Disneyland!

At the end of April, David and I and all his family went down to California for a little trip. Back in January we all did a day of service with Habitat for Humanity and all got free tickets to Disneyland. David, Daniel, and I drove down a day before the rest of the family. Daniel's wife, Heather, was already in California visiting her family, so we drove down to pick her up and then spend some time with my sister, Michalle, and brother-in-law, Matt. Although our visit with Matt and Michalle and Allie was short, we had so much fun! We ate dinner at a delicious place Michalle took me once before - Stone Fire or something like that. In the morning we went to Malibu to go to the beach. It was cold at first, then the sun came out and it warmed up a little, and then it got cloudy and cold again. It was nice to just walk along the beach, though, and enjoy the ocean view. It was Allie's first trip to the beach and she seemed to really like the waves. In the afternoon we said goodbye to Michalle and Allie. (Thank you again Lauricellas for letting us crash your place for the night! We loved it!!)

That afternoon we drove to our hotel in Anaheim and immediately headed for the hot tub. The rest of David's family arrived that night. The next morning was Disneyland!! It was so fun to all go as a big group! This was my second time ever going and the first time in many, many years that David's family all got to go together. The weather was perfect - warm and sunny. Also, the park was not too crowded. We rode so many rides - Space Mountain, Indiana Jones, Jungle Cruise, Splash Mountain, Small World, Astro Blasters, Mr. Toad, the Teacups, Autopia, Snow White, Peter Pan, Big Thunder Mountain, etc, etc. My favorite is still Big Thunder Mountain - I even had time to ride it twice this year!

This year we stayed for the fireworks show. It was such a good show! We were glad we stayed. David's parents, Daniel, and Heather left after the fireworks show. The rest of us stayed for one last ride - Indiana Jones again. Apparently everyone else in the park decided to do that. The line was really, really long. It took forever but was worth the wait. On our way out of the park, we took one last picture. Of all the people we could ask to take the picture, we asked a group of girls who were from.....BYU! Random!

All in all we were at Disneyland for about 14 hours. I wore tennis shoes, hoping that would help my feet, but they still killed the next day. Luckily, our plans were to go and relax at Manhattan Beach. I had never been to that beach, and I really loved it. The beach houses along the coast were all so cute. Although it was sunny, the beach was SUPER windy. If you were not laying flat on the warm sand, you froze! It was still nice to be outside. I tried to find some beach cruisers to rent but had no luck. Maybe on my next trip.

We ate dinner that night at a mexican restaurant called La Paz in El Segundo and then headed to Santa Monica to walk the pier. That was my first time for that, too. We just walked it briefly and then headed to our hotel in Rancho Cucamonga. It was cold and we were all tired. David grew up in Rancho Cucamonga, so they were all excited to go back. We woke up on Sunday morning and went to David's old ward. It was nice to meet some old family friends and see more of where he grew up. The area by his church was really pretty. It was definitely the nicest LDS church building I had ever been to. After church we headed back to Utah. It was a short fun but was a lot of fun. Hopefully next time we can take a longer trip and enjoy the beach more. And next time I need to take the following Monday off from work - I was SO exhausted the following week!

"Easy" - Not So Much

Well, I had yet another wonderful cooking experience. I am just such a good cook. It really is amazing. I decided to cook a meal that Michalle sent me from her crock pot recipe book called "Easy Cheesy BBQ Chicken." It consisted of chicken, bbq sauce, cheese, and bacon. Easy. Just as the recipe said. All I had to do was stick the chicken in the crock pot with a whole bottle of bbq sauce before work. Then I set the crock pot to low for 8 1/2 hours. The recipe called for 8-9 so I figured I would do 8 1/2 and when I got home in 8 hours I would check the chicken.

Well when I got off work, I received a text from David saying, "We are going out to eat tonight. Call me if you want to know why." Well as it turns out, the recipe was COMPLETELY wrong. Cooking chicken for 8 hours is apparently WAY too long but maybe you guys can be the judge of that:

The apartment smelled the entire night - even after lighting multiple candles. It took me FOREVER to scrape off the burnt bbq sauce from the sides of the crock pot. Needless to say, we ended up going to Noodles & Co. for dinner. Tomorrow I am cooking dinner for my mother-in-law for Mother's Day so cross your fingers everyone - I'll need all the luck/help I can get!!
